Pep's Man City Snatch Late Victory At Bournemouth

English Premier League Report: Bournemouth v Manchester City 26 August 2017

By SL International - Aug 26, 2017 03:37 PM

English Premier League

Result: Bournemouth 1-2 Manchester City

Date: 26 August 2017

Venue: Vitality Stadium

Raheem Sterling struck in the dying stages of the second half to earn Manchester City a 2-1 win over AFC Bournemouth.

The opening exchanges of the half were scrappy with both sides cancelling each other out early on.

However, in the 12th minute the Cherries found an opening, with Charlie Adams grabbing the lead for the home side with a superb volley from a tight angle.

Gabriel Jesus had the reply for City as he brought them level in the 20th minute. David Silva sliced an exquisite through ball that put Jesus through on goal in the centre of the box. The Brazilian striker made no mistake inside the 18-yard box, 1-1.

Bernardo Silva nearly put Guardiola's charges ahead in the 36th minute but his shot inside the 18-yard box was saved by Asmir Begovic.

Fernandinho also had a chance two minutes before half-time but his shot was repelled by Begovic as City had the momentum.

The match went into the interval with both sides level at 1-1.

The opening minutes of the second half was a mirror of the opening minutes of the first stanza. Both sides were conceding a lot fouls, with neither team finding the desired rhythm.

After 63 minutes, Pep Guardiola brought in Sergio Aguero, who replaced Bernardo Silva as the Spaniard was looking to take the lead for the first time in the match.

Fernandinho was unlucky in the 72nd minute as his right footed shot from just outside the box was brilliantly saved by Begovic.

The Cherries were resolute in defence and the Sky Blues could not breakthrough, despite holding more possession.

However, the Citizens pushed for a winning goal in stoppage time, and they rewarded in the 96th minute as Sterling fired home via deflection from 12-yards out. The City winger was also sent off for picking up his second yellow card for his celebration.
