Pogba Sent Off As Man Utd Claim Impressive Win At Arsenal

English Premier League

Result: Arsenal 1-3 Manchester United

Date: 02 December 2017

Venue: Emirates Stadium

Jesse Lingard and David De Gea played starring roles as Manchester United registered a 3-1 win over Arsenal at Emirates Stadium on Saturday evening.

The Red Devils got off to the perfect start when Paul Pogba played in Antonio Valencia, who fired a low effort past Petr Cech to gift his side the lead, 0-1.

Seven minutes later, United doubled their lead as Romelu Lukaku and Anthony Martial combined to set up Jesse Lingard who fired past Cech from close range.

Arsenal were dealt a blow after 15 minutes Shkodran  Mustafi was forced off with an injury. He was replaced by Alex Iwobi.

Despite being 2-0 down, the Gunners dominated for the remainder of the first half and they nearly pulled a goal back in the 30th minute when De Gea cleared Mesut Ozil's free-kick off the line.

The home side were camped in the United half in the final 10 minutes, and Hector Bellerin and Kolasinac forced David de Gea into a couple fine saves in the closing stages.

Arsenal eventually pulled a goal back three minutes into the second half as Aaron Ramsey sprung the offside trap and teed up Alexandre Lacazette, who calmly placed the ball past De Gea.

In the 55th minute, De Gea came to United's rescue as the Spaniard produced a stunning low save to deny Lacazette before denying Alexis Sanchez from point-blank range.

However, United restored their lead in the 63rd minute as Lingard bagged his second of the game by turning home Pogba's cross after a swift counter attack from the visitors.

In the 73rd minute, the visitors were reduced to 10 men when Paul Pogba was shown a straight red for a studs up challenge on Bellerin.

The Gunners threw everything forward in attempt to reduce United's lead, but Jose Mourinho's men were stubborn and held on for the 3-1 win.
