Arsenal Miss Out On UCL Football

English Premier League

Result: Arsenal 3-1 Everton

Date: 21 May 2017

Venue: Emirates Stadium

Arsenal have finished outside the top four for the first time in the Premier League era, despite claiming a 3-1 win over Everton at the Emirates Stadium.

The Gunners broke the deadlock after eight minutes as some neat build-up play ended with Hector Bellerin passing the ball into the back of the net.
Arsenal were then reduced to 10 men in the 14th minute when Laurent Koscielny was shown a straight red card for a tackle on Enner Valencia.
Nevertheless, the hosts doubled their lead in the 27th minute when Danny Welbeck pulled the ball back for Sanchez, who made no mistake from six-yards out.
Everton looked threatening in the closing stages, but Peter Cech was at his best to deny the likes of Romelu Lukaku and Idrissa Gueye.
The score remained 2-0 at the halftime break.
Arsene Wenger opted for a change after 53 minutes as Per Metersacker replaced Gabriel Paulista, who was stretchered off.
Everton were then awarded a penalty when Nacho Monreal handled in the box. Lukaku stepped up and made no mistake from the spot, 2-1.
The visitors thought they had an equaliser in the 67th minute but Valencia's goal ruled our for a foul in the build-up.
Everton continued to threaten as the half went on and Lukaku was presented with another chance after 83 minutes, but the Belgian could only head wide from close range.
However, Aaron Ramsey sealed the win for the Gunners in stoppage time with a wonderful effort from the edge of the box, 3-1.
Liverpool's win against Middlesbrough means Arsenal finish outside the top four the first time under Arsene Wenger.
