English Premier League
Result: Arsenal 3 -0 Bournemouth
Date: 09 September 2017
Venue: Emirates Stadium
Arsenal found the winning formula as they eased past Bournemouth with a 3-0 victory at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday.
The Emirates Stadium demanded a good showing from Arsenal after a disappointing start to the season for the Gunners.
The home side took just four minutes to take the lead after a well-weighted cross from Sead Kolasinac found Danny Welbeck who headed home to give his team an early lead.
Arsenal were on the ascendency and tested the Bournemouth keeper through a Granit Xhaka shot from outside the box. Asmir Begovic did well to parry the ball out for an Arsenal corner.
Begovic was called into action again as a well-struck Mesut Ozil free kick seemed destined for goal until the Bosnian shot stopper dived well to keep out the ball.
Welbeck went from scorer to provider as he set up Alexander Lacazette who gave Begovic no chance with a great strike from outside the box to put the Gunners 2 – 0 ahead.
Arsenal almost got a third when a back pass to the Bournemouth keeper proved risky after Welbeck closed down the keepers’ clearance in front of goal and the keeper saved Lacazette’s follow up to save his side’s blushes.
Just like they did in the first, Arsenal got an early goal in the second and it was Danny Welbeck with his second of the match after being put through by Aaron Ramsey.
The Gunners were always comfortable and in control of the game and Mesut Ozil beautifully set up Francis Coquelin whose shot was deflected for a corner.
Having had a quiet day in the Arsenal goals, Petr Cech was alert to a looping header from Josh King which the Czech keeper parried over the bar.
That was as close as Bournemouth came to finding the back of the net but Arsenal repelled them to seal a convincing 3 – 0 victory.
