A second half penalty goal from Yohan Cabaye handed Crystal Palace their fourth English Premier League win of the season after beating Watford 1-0 at Vicarage Road on Sunday.
Watford had the first effort on goal in the 11th minute when Troy Deeney’s shot from the edge of the box was superbly saved by Wayne Hennessey.
Deeney spurned another scoring chance on the half hour mark when he met a right-wing cross with a strong header, but his effort went inches wide of the post.
The half ended 0-0.
Two minutes into the second half Watford came close to scoring yet again when a 24-yard free-kick from Jose Manuel Jurado crashed against the crossbar.
Palace, though, started to find their feet in the game and almost scored on the hour mark when Dwight Gayle saw his powerful shot from the edge of the box beat the keeper, but strike the post.
Ten minutes later Palace were afforded the perfect opportunity to take the lead when Allan Nyom committed a foul inside the box and the referee pointed to the penalty spot.
Yohan Cabaye stepped up for the visitors and made no mistake from the spot to give his side the lead, 1-0.
Watford tried to find their way back into the game, but Palace held on for the win.
