Did Mourinho Have A Sly Dig At Pogba?

After Jose Mourinho and Paul Pogba famously fell out during their time together at Manchester United, the sacked coach now appears to have had a sly dig at his former superstar.

The relationship between the pair had its up and downs throughout Mourinho's stay at Old Trafford, but worsened significantly towards the end of his reign at the club.

Following a reported spat in training, and then Mourinho's decision to strip the French World Cup winner of the vice-captaincy, Pogba was benched by the Portuguese tactician his final two games in charge of the Red Devils.

Although Mourinho has maintained that he will not to speak ill of his former club and players, his latest comments appear to include a sly dig at Pogba and his entourage, whom he hinted were "distractions" when discussing modern players.

"You now have a generation of players who are not just players but the whole package," Mourinho told the Daily Telegraph

"You have the player, the family, the agent, the entourage, the director of communication. You sometimes have the individual's medical people, and in an extreme situation, you even have what they call their 'personal fitness guys'.

"When you have a player, you have all these distractions. And if there is no empathy in the structure of the club, you get into so many contradictions that it is really, really difficult to work."

Mourinho's comments come after Pogba's brother Mathias hit out at the coach after he was fired, while the midfielder's agent is also not on best terms with the 56-year-old.

Pogba also posted a cryptic picture of himself with a cheeky smile on Instagram, accompanied by the words "Caption this", just minutes after Mourinho was sacked. It was later claimed that the post was a scheduled event for a marketing campaign, but this could tie in with the manager's abovementioned comments eluding to the fact that the players of old days did not have a whole entourage – like Pogba does – around them.

Meanwhile, Manchester United's record signing has blossomed since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer took over from Mourinho, scoring nine goals and assisting another six strikes.
