Dele Alli Reveals Who He Pulled Middle Finger At
Star midfielder Dele Alli, who has been called controversial before, was seen pulling the middle finger in England’s FIFA World Cup qualifier on Monday night, and he has now revealed his reason for doing so.
The Three Lions came from behind to beat Slovakia 2-1 at Wembley Stadium on Monday night, thanks to goals from Eric Dier and Marcus Rashford.
Near the end of the game, Alli was seen sticking up his middle finger towards someone, though it was at first unclear as to who was on the other end of the gesture.
While some publications have speculated the gesture was for the match official, the midfielder has said it was for his England teammate Kyle Walker.
Here was Alli’s tweet on the matter:
Manager Gareth Southgate also defended the player’s actions.
"Dele and Kyle Walker were messing about and Dele made gesture towards Kyle," the England boss said, according to the Sun.
"They have strange way of communicating!"
Arsenal legend Ian Wright also criticised Alli’s behaviour after the match, suggesting actions like that could cause unnecessary problems.
