An investigation has been opened into a possible criminal case after a lifeless body was found at the house of an African Premier League star.
On Sunday, reports emerged that a deceased body had been found at the home of Arsenal midfielder Mohamed Elneny near Mahalla al-Kubra in Egypt.
According to Marca, Elneny's father found the body under the patio of the house, which is currently under construction, and immediately reported it to the Egyptian authorities.
An inspection was conducted by the country's police forces, who subsequently opened an investigation, although it is not immediately clear whether foul play is suspected.
The identity of the deceased person has not yet been determined but the body was sent for an autopsy by the investigating department before being buried.
Elneny is currently on holiday after taking part in the recent Africa Cup of Nations tournament with Egypt, and is yet to release a statement.
The 27-year-old joined Arsenal in 2016, and has scored two goals in 89 appearances since. He has been strongly linked with a move away from the club in recent weeks, however, with Crystal Palace rumoured to be a possible destination.
