Reigning world and European champions Liverpool look set to add the Premier League title to their trophy cabinet at the end of the season but, in a bizarre twist of fate, reports in England now suggest that might not happen if the league is suspended because of the Coronavirus.
Liverpool look set to claim a first league title for 30 years this season after amassing a seemingly unassailable 22-point gap over closest rivals Manchester City in the league table.
The Reds might not get their hands on the elusive trophy after all, however, after the rapid, global spread of the novel Coronavirus - or Covid-19 - has put sporting events around the world under threat.
English publication The Telegraph report that there is no guarantee Liverpool will be crowned champions if the EPL does get suspended because there are no specific regulations in place that deal with such a scenario.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has since dismissed suggestions that his club's supporters were worried about missing out on the title, instead blaming the rumours on the media for trying to create paranoia.
"I cannot believe Liverpool fans are thinking about it," Klopp replied when asked about the risk, as reported by TEAMtalk.
"If anyone wants to ask how much sense it would make to delete the season, who plays Champions League next season and all this they can, it would be a nice story…
"Newspapers have to write something, but when I saw it the stories the first time I really thought 'wow' that somebody thinks like that. Liverpool fans are not silly enough to believe in these things."
