Club World Cup

Result: Al Jazira 1-2 Real Madrid

Date: 13 December 2017

Venue: Sheikh Zayed Sports City

Real Madrid booked their spot in the FIFA Club World Cup final, after coming from behind to defeat Al Jazira 2-1,  thanks to goals from Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale.

Los Blancos got off to a lively start with the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Luka Modric hitting the woodwork in the opening 10 minutes.

Seven minutes later, Real should have been ahead when Achraf Hakimi picked out Karim Benzema, who managed to head wide with only the goalkeeper to beat.

Zinedine Zidane's charges thought they had taken the lead on 30 minutes through Casemiro but, the referee's initial decision was overruled by the Video Assistant Referee (VAR).

Al Jazira eventually took the lead in the 41st minute, as Boussoufa dispossessed Casemiro before teeing up Romarinho, who side-footed the ball past Keylor Navas, 1-0,

Real failed to hit back in the final stages of the first half and went into the break trailing by the lone goal.

Eight minutes into the second half, Los Blancos were level through Ronaldo, who latched onto a fine pass from Modric before slotting into the bottom corner, 1-1.

The woodwork came to Al Jazira's rescue once again in the 69th minute, as Benzema's deflected effort from distance crashed against the upright.

Real were struggling to break down the Al Jazira, which prompted Zidane to introduce Bale for Benzema in the 81st minute.

The change paid off, Bale put Los Blancos ahead with his first touch of the game with a well-place shot, after some good work by Lucas Vazquez.

The UEFA Champions League winners, managed to see out the closing stages with relative ease, as they booked their spot in the final and are now on course to defend the title they won last year.

The once two coaches at Bidvest Wits and Pirates locked horns and Rodger came up tops. Is that the resurgent of Dikwena?

I think Zidane is able to defend all his trophies but I don't see that happening with the league
