The Red Devils confirmed on Tuesday that they had reached an agreement with Ukrainian giants Shakhtar Donetsk for midfielder Fred, with the reported fee being £52 million (R886 million).
International teammate Willian, who has also been linked with a switch to Jose Mourinho's side, has since spoken up his countryman's move to Old Trafford, and expects him to be a success.
"Of course, no doubt about that," the Brazilian said, as quoted by FourFourTwo.
"He has a lot of quality, and he can improve a lot. He is going to one of the best teams in the world. I am happy for him and hope he will do well at Manchester United.
"He is very happy to come to the Premier League to play. We talked a little bit about that. He is excited to start.
"But now it is time to think about the World Cup. I think he is delighted, but now is the time to think about the national team."
