The Blues have reportedly agreed a deal in principle for RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner, who has had an impressive 2019/20 season so far.
The German forward was believed to be interested in taking his career to Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool, but the Reds were seemingly forced to pull out of any deal due to financial reasons.
According to Sky Sports, Werner will join Frank Lampard's side for a fee of £49.4 million (R1 billion), and could earn nearly £200 000 (R4.3 million) a week in London.

Werner had previously spoken about his admiration for Klopp and Liverpool, who were seemingly not prepared to pay his release clause in the current market.
Reports also suggest that Chelsea are able to guarantee the 24-year-old a key role in the side, which was an important factor in his decision.
The striker joined Leipzig from Stuttgart in 2016, and has since scored 92 goals and provided 39 assists in 154 matches across all competitions for the club.
