Chelsea striker Alvaro Morata seems to have flirted with the idea that he may consider returning to Real Madrid
The 25-year-old, who signed for the Stamford Bridge club for £60 million (R985 million), left Los Blancos at the start of this season after a lack of consistent playing time in the Spanish capital.
However, he now said that he still supports the Madrid side no matter what has happened in the past and left the door open on a possible return
“I respect Chelsea of course and I am very happy, but Madrid are Madrid,” Morata told Movistar+.
“I’m still a fan of Real Madrid, but life does not end when you leave the club and last summer it was the right time for me to move.
“I never asked to start games but I did not play in the Champions League knockouts last season or against Barcelona, Atletico, Sevilla or Valencia.
The Spain international was then asked if he thought Zinedine Zidane’s men could retain the Champions League this season.
“Of course, they are going through a bad moment but in football, this can happen and Madrid have been below par before and won the Champions League,” he added.
The striker has made 32 appearances for Chelsea this season, scoring 12 goals and assisting in a further five more.
