On Monday, Premier League side Aston Villa confirmed the signing of Tanzania international Mbwana Samatta from Genk on a four-and-a-half-year deal, subject to a work permit and international clearance being granted.
"For me, it means a lot," Samatta told Aston Villa's official website of the move.
"In Tanzania, the people love football. They always watch the Premier League. It will be a moment they're going to watch one of their own playing in the Premier League for Aston Villa."
The fee for Samatta's deal was undisclosed, but it is believed that Villa paid about €11.7 million (R188 million) for the player who scored 76 goals in 191 appearances during his time in Belgium.
Prior to his spell with Genk, Samatta rose to prominence with Africa giants TP Mazembe, and was part of the club's 2015 CAF Champions League-winning side, claiming the tournament's Golden Boot and the CAF Inter-Clubs Player of the Year awards as well.
