Arsene Wenger Wants Arsenal Star To Be Like Zlatan Ibrahimovic
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has urged one of his players to follow in the footsteps of former Manchester United striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
The Frenchman wants to see the Gunners' record signing Alexandre Lacazette emulate what the 35-year-old former Sweden international striker did in the Premier League.
Ibrahimovic's made the move from Ligue 1 to the English top flight last season, and managed to score 17 goals in 28 league appearances for the Red Devils, a return Wenger feels his new striker should try and match.
"With Lacazette, it is simple," the French tactician said, as quoted by FourFourTwo.
"He is an intelligent player who can integrate our game well as we have a game backed on mobility, technique.
"After that, we get the efficiency. His record in France is to score one in 80 minutes. If he can maintain that record, that would be ideal for us. As a game is in 90, that would guarantee you a goal.
"Goalscoring record is not necessarily transferable from the French league to the English league, that's for sure.
"But you could say that Ibrahimovic transferred an identical amount of goals from France to England. So that's the target Lacazette should set."
Lacazette had a terrific goal return in France last season, netting 28 strikes in 30 league appearances.
