According to The Independent, Arteta wants up to eight players out in January and the following transfer window in order to speed up his squad overhaul.
The Gunners boss is well aware of the club’s stretched finances and knows he must cut the wage bill if he wants to bring in new players.

Among the eight players Arteta wants to get rid of is Mesut Ozil, the club’s top earner, who was not registered for the Premier League squad nor the UEFA Europa League this season.
The 32-year-old has been linked with a move to Fenerbahce and DC United, but it remains to be seen whether he will leave the club this window.
Ozil, though, is not the only Arsenal player on the club’s axe-list, as the likes of Shkodran Mustafi, Mohamed Elneny, Reiss Nelson, Callum Chambers, Folarin Balogun, Sokratis Papastathopoulos and Joe Willock are also believed to be seen as dispensable.
Nelson and Willock, though, might only be loaned out rather than sold, while the others are set to leave on permanent deals.
