Premier League side Arsenal are on the verge of breaking their club transfer record for a French striker who is expected to cost about €50 million (R745 million).

Barca Target Comments On Atletico Future

Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas has told members of the media that the London club is "one or two days" away from finalising a deal for Alexandre Lacazette.

It is believed the forward will be travel to England on Monday to complete a move that is expected to make him the Gunners' most expensive player ever.

"The transfer of Alexandre Lacazette to Arsenal could be done in one or two days," Aulas told Le Progres.

"We will probably reach a new record, it's not a small transfer, €50 million for a player trained by our club.

"One must also take into account that, traditionally, a club like Arsenal do not have the habit of spending so much for one player.

"The first offer made by Arsenal was €45 million. The deal will happen for something between €45 million and €50 million.

"The €67 million announced by English sources and relayed was an impossible and not realistic sum."

If the deal goes through, it is expected to eclipse the €47 million (R701 million) fee the Gunners paid Real Madrid for Mesut Ozil in 2013.

Football's Most Expensive XI

Lacazette, who has scored at least 20 league goals in each of the past three seasons, netted 37 times in 45 games across all competitions during the 2016/17 campaign.

Do you think Lacazette would be a good signing for the 2016/17 FA Cup champions? Have your say in the comments section below.

@MOKOKOTLO Boss, Barca will never change ways for another player, besides Messi. No matter who comes in, they will convert them to play the Barca way. In my opinion, this is the reason why i will never be a Barca fan.

He can do better than Giroud if he's given a chance.
