Alexis Sanchez Reveals What He Texted Arsenal Manager Arsene Wenger After Exit Announcement
Manchester United superstar Alexis Sanchez has revealed the message he sent former boss Arsene Wenger after the tactician announced he will be stepping down as manager of Arsenal after a 22-year reign.
The Chilean, who joined the Red Devils in January, was brought the Premier League by the Frenchman, who signed him from Spanish giants FC Barcelona back in 2014.
Speaking after United's 2-1 win over Tottenham Hotspur in their FA Cup semi-final on Saturday, Sanchez revealed that he sent a message Wenger to express his gratitude for the role he played in the attacker's career.
"I texted him yesterday to wish him the best," Sanchez said, as quoted by Sky Sports.
"I could not say anything on social media, but I texted him and he replied to me saying thank you to me.
"It's sad because he is a historical football legend, I always said he is a gentleman and a football master, he taught me a lot about respect and to be professional.
"I'm just so thankful to him."
The 29-year-old, who spent four years under Wenger at the Emirates, made 166 appearances for Arsenal, scoring 80 goals and assisting a further 46 strikes.
