The 29-year-old has scored just one goal in 10 matches since arriving at Old Trafford, which has frustrated many of the club's fans, especially considering the big wages he is reportedly on.
While reports suggest he is not happy in Manchester, the former Arsenal man has explained that changing clubs in January was not easy.
"As I am self-demanding, I expected something better," he said, according to the Daily Mail.
"After my arrival at United, it was hard to change everything very quickly. I even hesitated to come here (to Sweden, against whom the Chilean national team will play against on Friday).
"The change of club was something that was very abrupt.
"It was the first time I've changed clubs in January, but many things have happened in my life that are difficult."
Sanchez also stated that, due to his poor form, he considered taking a break from international duty with Chile, but eventually decided to link up with his countrymen.
"I asked the manager for permission to stay in England but, having thought about it, I thought it would be good to be here to start things off on the right foot," he added.
"I told Claudio (Bravo, Chile's captain) we should all be united."
Sanchez has contributed to just three goals in 10 games at United, with two of those being assists.
