6 Potential Jobs For Mourinho

With Jose Mourinho having already been linked with a new shock job, here are six potential destinations for one of the most successful managers in the game.

The 58-year-old was relieved of his duties as Tottenham Hotspur boss on Monday, ensuring that he has now been sacked from his past four jobs – at Real Madrid in 2013, at Chelsea in 2016, at Manchester United in 2018 and at Spurs this week.

However, Mourinho has insisted he does not need a break from the game, and is ready for his next role.

"No need, no need for breaks or recharged batteries. I'm always in football," he told reporters after his latest dismissal, as quoted by Goal.

So what is next for him? Many feel he has used up all his chances to impress in the English game after coaching Chelsea – twice – United and Spurs.

With Mourinho's latest reigns also being less successful, many question whether or not he still has what it takes to be considered among the coaching elite.

The Portuguese tactician, though, has lifted 25 pieces of silverware in his managerial career to date, including two UEFA Champions League trophies, and will surely still attract some top jobs.

One such opportunity could arise in his home country, once Fernando Santos leaves his role as Portugal coach. The 66-year-old, who guided A Selecao to the 2016 UEFA European Championship title as well as their 2019 UEFA Nations League triumph, still has a contract with Portugal until 2024, though.

However, a poor Euro 2020 could perhaps see the Portuguese Football Association opt to release him earlier than expected and attempt to lift the 2022 FIFA World Cup with Mourinho.

Another option for the former Real Madrid manager could be to coach Wolverhampton Wanderers. Reports state that Nuno Espirito Santo might leave the club at the end of the season, and Wolves are heavily influenced by Mourinho's agent Jorge Mendes. Perhaps they could use the chance to bring in Mourinho to boost their profile among England's elite clubs.

With Andrea Pirlo coming more and more under pressure at Juventus and the Italian giants likely missing out on the Serie A title this season, the club's owners could look to Mourinho to get them back to the top.

He has experience in Italy, having won the treble with Inter Milan in the 2009/10 campaign, and his style of play seems to suit the Italian game more than other leagues. However, it is unclear how strong his ties with Juve's rival the Nerazzurri still are – you can see a few more potential new jobs for Mourinho by scrolling through the gallery above!
