The 26-year-old, who is said to be trying to force a move to Real Madrid, failed to report to training on Monday as expected, and also did not attend Sunday's Community Shield match between the Blues and Manchester City.
Reports suggest that Courtois has told the London club he wants to leave before the transfer window closes on Thursday, and it seems the player has now taken the matter into his own hands.
With the situation forcing Chelsea to start looking for a new No. 1, Blues manager Maurizio Sarri is said to be looking at Athletic Bilbao goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga, AC Milan's Pepe Reina, Stoke City's Jack Butland and Atletico Madrid star Jan Oblak, who is rated as one of the world's best keepers at the moment, as potential replacements for the Belgian, according to the Daily Mirror.
Arrizabalaga, 23, is said to be the top choice for the Italian boss, who knows he will need to fork out about £71.5 million (R1.23 billion) for the young Spaniard, who signed a new contract with his club in January.

The Independent suggested that the London side is also eyeing England International Jordan Pickford, who had a brilliant 2018 FIFA World Cup campaign in Russia, while the Daily Star has stated that Paris Saint-Germain’s Kevin Trapp is another outside option.
