According to Manchester Evening News, United are willing to sell five more players in order to help finance any additions needed.
Erik ten Hag was appointed as the boss of the Red Devils earlier this year and has been tasked with rebuilding what has been a relatively underperforming squad.
With the likes of Juan Mata, Jesse Lingard, Nemanja Matic and Paul Pogba having all said goodbye to the Mancunian club in this transfer window, the Red Devils will likely need some reinforcements in midfield.
Barca Stars Makes Shock Contract U-Turn?
The same is true for their defence, with the Dutchman inheriting the club's leakiest defence since the 1978/79 season, after United conceded 57 league goals last campaign.
Phil Jones, Eric Baily and Aaron Wan-Bissaka have all been deemed surplus to requirements as Ten Hag looks to provide better competition for the likes of Raphael Varane, Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof, as per MEN.
If the former Ajax Amsterdam manager is to afford to secure new signings, he needs to sell some of the assets currently at his disposal, with Ten Hag keen on bringing his former players Jurrien Timber and Lisandro Martinez to the red half of Manchester from the Netherlands.
Brandon Williams and Axel Tuanzebe are understood to also be set for the exit door following underwhelming loan spells last season.
