According to the Evening Standard, the Blues are hoping they can get France international N'Golo Kante to commit to a new long-term deal amid interest from Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain.
It is believed the London side is ready to offer the 27-year-old a new five-year contract worth a whopping £290 000 (R5 million) a week, which will see him eclipse Real Madrid target Eden Hazard as the club's highest-paid star.
The Belgium international is reportedly earning about £200 000 (R3.49 million) a week in London, but rumours suggest the winger is looking to leave the Blues in the coming days.
Kante, who currently earns £110 000 (R1.92 million) a week, signed a five-year deal with Chelsea in 2016, when he joined from Leicester City for £32 million (R559 million).
Since his arrival at Stamford Bridge, the Frenchman's performances have gone from strength to strength, and he is now recognised as one of the best defensive midfielders in world football.
