12 Relegated Stars Who Could Stay In The Premier League

With the 2019/20 Premier League season concluding on Sunday evening, here are 12 relegated footballers who could very well still be playing in England's top flight come September.

The campaign came to a close this past weekend, with Bournemouth, Watford and Norwich City the three teams that have been relegated after Aston Villa managed to survive the drop zone by one point following a draw away at West Ham United.

As is the case every season, a number of the relegated players have impressed enough during the campaign to earn moves to other Premier League sides in the next transfer window, but who are they this time out?

It appears inevitable that Bournemouth's impressive centre-back Nathan Ake will remain in England's top division, with the 25-year-old Dutch international linked with both Manchester City and Manchester United.

Following the Red Devils' 5-2 drubbing of Eddie Howe's side a few weeks ago, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was reportedly seen telling the defender he is looking for a left-footed centre-half, although Pep Guardiola may have something to say about that. Ake was often seen as a rose among thorns this season, and has 146 Premier League appearances to his name, which could prove as useful experience going forward.

The defender could be rejoined in the EPL by his colleague David Brooks, whom Transfermarkt values at €24 million (R464 million). The Wales international featured just nine times across all competitions this season due to injury, but has previously been linked with the Red Devils.

At Watford, perhaps winger Gerard Deulofeu could seek to stay in the country's top division, while Norwich, who finished last in the Premier League, could see a number of their players being snapped up.

Defenders Ben Godfrey and Max Aarons have been discussed as potential targets for a few teams in EPL, as has 22-year-old creative midfielder Todd Cantwell, who scored six goals in 37 matches in his debut Premier League campaign.
