The two coaches' styles could not be more different, but some players have experienced both during their careers.

Sanchez will become the 12th footballer to don a shirt for Mourinho and Guardiola, as pointed out by ESPN. He scored 15 goals in 41 appearances under the Spaniard at the Camp Nou, lifting four trophies in the 2011/12 season, and Mourinho will hope he can have a similar impact at United.

In playing under both tacticians, he follows well-known stars such as Xabi Alonso, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Samuel Eto'o and Bastian Schweinsteiger, among others.

Of the list above, Eto'o is the only player to have lifted the UEFA Champions League trophy with both managers, winning it with Guardiola's Barca in 2009 and one year later with Mourinho's Inter Milan.

Ibrahimovic is probably one of the most outspoken players about his former and current coaches. "Jose Mourinho is Guardiola's opposite. If Mourinho brightens up the room, Guardiola pulls down the curtains, and I guessed that Guardiola now tried to measure himself with him," he wrote in his autobiography after famously falling out with the Spaniard during their time together at the Camp Nou.

Kevin De Bruyne, meanwhile, will probably have a very different opinion after blossoming under Guardiola at Manchester City – this after previously being deemed not good enough at Chelsea by Mourinho.

Note: Deco was not added to this list because he never actually played for Barcelona under Guardiola, leaving the club nine days after the Spaniard's arrival. Oriol Romeu, meanwhile, made nine appearances under Pep but never featured under Mourinho at Chelsea.
