With Brazilian superstar Neymar having been linked with a stunning move back to FC Barcelona amid rumours of his unhappiness at Paris Saint-Germain, here are 10 high-profile players who moved back to former clubs of theirs.

The latest reports suggest that the Selecao star is not entirely happy with how things have gone since his arrival at PSG following his exit from the Catalan club in August 2017.

While he has been linked with Spanish giants Real Madrid, there has also been talk that he would be open to a return to Barca, although it remains to be seen whether or not the Spaniards would fork out the reported €400 million (R5.9 billion) necessary.

Mark Hughes returned to Manchester United in 1989 after leaving three years prior for the Catalan giants. The Welshman was unable to find great form at Barca before leaving for Bayern Munich, and then returning for a second spell in Manchester.

Gerard Pique is another Blaugrana star who features after returning to the Camp Nou four years after his move to the Red Devils in 2004.

Midfielder Cesc Fabregas is another Barca academy graduate to have gone back to the club. The player returned to the Catalans in 2011 after eight years under Arsene Wenger's wing at Arsenal, although he left again three years later.

Gunners legend Thierry Henry returned to the club five years following his exit in 2007, although only for a loan spell. Held in the highest regard at Arsenal, fans could not resist the excitement of Henry putting on their club's shirt in 2012, even though he was past his best by then.

Legendary Chelsea forward Didier Drogba returned for a second spell at the Blues in 2014, while Carlos Tevez returned to Boca Juniors in 2015, and has, funnily enough, since left the Argentine club and then returned once more.

David Luiz also features, having left Chelsea and returned, along with French superstar Paul Pogba, who rejoined the Red Devils in 2016 for a world record transfer fee.

Spanish striker Alvaro Morata moved back to Los Blancos in 2016 too, although he left again after just one season, joining Antonio Conte's Chelsea at the beginning of this campaign.

In 2017, Wayne Rooney returned to Everton after many years of success at United, where he won the Premier League on five occasions, as well as the UEFA Champions League in 2008.
