Julian Weigl was heavily linked with the Citizens in January, and it is widely believed that he is someone Guardiola wants at the club long-term. According to the Daily Mail, the manager is a massive admirer of the Borussia Dortmund midfielder, who could cost about £40 million (R592 million).
Brazilian midfielder Fred, who plays for Shakhtar Donetsk, is another player who is said to be chased by the Manchester club, although the Daily Star recently claimed their rivals Manchester United have also entered the race for his signature.
West Bromwich Albion defender Jonny Evans has also been linked with City, as has Fulham fullback Ryan Sessegnon, who, at 17 years old, seems to have very bright future. The player has been utilised more in a left-midfield position this season, and has scored 14 goals in 38 league games already.
Tottenham Hotspur defender Toby Alderweireld is reportedly wanted by City, as is Lazio midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic. The Serbian is considered by many to be one of the top talents in Europe, and is said to be on the radar of many of Europe's top clubs.
Benfica starlet Joao Felix, 18, is also said to be on the manager's wish list, and the same can be said of Real Madrid playmaker Isco and Leicester City's Riyad Mahrez.
At the beginning of the month, Guardiola's former star at FC Barcelona, Andres Iniesta, emerged as a possible target for City, although the most recent reports from Spain suggest that he could be on his way to China at the end of the season.
The Citizens are currently 16 points clear at the top of the EPL table, and have been drawn against Liverpool in the Champions League quarter-finals.
Guardiola might feel that, despite the way his team has played this season, building on an already strong squad could ensure that, in the 2018/19 campaign, they will be just as dominant.
