Tottenham Hotspur are enduring a tough time on the pitch this season, and things could get worse if they do not tie some of their star players down to new contracts. Toby Aldeweireld, Christian Eriksen and Jan Vertonghen will all be out of contract in July 2020, and Spurs cannot afford to lose three key men on the cheap.
The trio are likely to attract cut-price transfer offers in January, which the club will consider, but they could also all depart for nothing at the end of the campaign.
Reigning European champions Liverpool could also lose a star man at the end of the season, with Cameroon defender Joel Matip currently in the final year of his contract with the club.
Matip, who has been in imperious form for the Reds and was recently named the PFA Player of the Month for September, is reportedly closing in on a new deal, but, to date, has not put pen to paper.
One player who will definitely be available for free next year is Manchester City star David Silva. The 33-year-old has already confirmed he will leave the Premier League champions after 10 seasons at the Etihad, and is attracting interest from across Europe and the US.
Chelsea, on the other hand, could suffer a triple blow as Olivier Giroud, Pedro and Willian all have less than 12 months remaining on their current deals – you can see 10 of the biggest soon-to-be out-of-contract names by scrolling through the gallery above!
