According to the Daily Star, the Premier League spent the most money out of all the top flights in Europe in the previous window, and the publication has now named their 10 flops of the window so far.
First on the list is Chelsea and France midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko. The Blues spent £36 million (R666.8m) on the former Monaco star, and he has since struggled to adapt to the pace of the English top flight. Bakayoko has been paired with countryman N'Golo Kante on a few occasions by Antonio Conte, but it is a combination that does not seem to be working.
England midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain joined Liverpool for £34 million (R629.7m) from Arsenal at the beginning of the season. The main reason for the 24-year-old's desire to leave the Emirates was regular football in his preferred position, but he has failed to nail down a starting position with the Reds.
Some might have forgotten he is currently playing in the Premier League, but this could be an indication of how lacklustre his start to life in England has been... Former Bayern Munich star Renato Sanches has not had a great time in the Premier League with Swansea City so far. The youngster is at the Welsh club on a loan deal, but his game time has been minimal as he has also struggled to adjust to the league.
Others who have flopped since signing for their new Premier League clubs in the latest window, according to the Daily Star, are Gylfi Sigurdsson (Everton), Joe Hart (West Ham United) Fernando Llorente (Tottenham Hotspur), Victor Lindelof (Manchester United), Roque Mesa (Swansea City), Davy Klaassen (Everton) and Marko Arnautovic (West Ham United).
