While superstars Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo both average more than one trophy a season, there are some top footballers who end their careers without having won much. Here are 10 of the best stars who never won a league trophy!

Trophies are hard to come by for most footballers, which is why winning a league title at the highest level means as much as it does for players.
England striker Gary Lineker, despite being one of the nation's greatest goalscorers ever, was unable to win a league title in the years he spent playing in the English top flight. He also failed to lift the LaLiga title in his three years at Spanish giants FC Barcelona, between 1986 and 1989.
The Premier League title is the one trophy that evaded Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard, although that does not take away from his well-earned status as one of the division's most influential players of all time.
In the same boat as Gerrard is his former colleague Jamie Carragher, as well as Fernando Torres. The Spaniard never won a LaLiga championship playing for Atletico Madrid, although this might not feel like much of a failure when one considers the many other trophies he has claimed in his career so far, namely: two European Championship trophies, a FIFA World Cup, a UEFA Champions League title and a UEFA Europa League trophy.
African legend Jay-Jay Okocha is another legendary footballer who never won a league trophy in his career – to see all 10 players, click through the gallery above!
