Brazilians such as Anderson, Kleberson and Rafael da Silva have represented United over the years, but it is a mystery as to why the club has never really had a Selecao superstar excel in the famous Red Devils jersey.

Since Mourinho's arrival in 2016, many Brazilian players have been linked with the club, including Chelsea winger Willian and Monaco midfielder Fabinho, and the next window could be the one the Portuguese finally acquires the services of a Brazilian star.

According to The Independent, one of Mourinho's main transfer targets is Napoli midfielder Jorginho, who was born in Brazil but represents Italy at international level. The player has also been linked with Manchester City.

Juventus left back Alex Sandro is said to be somewhere near the top of United's wish list, while Shakhtar Donetsk's 25-year-old midfield maestro Fred is also reportedly on Mourinho's radar. The manager is said to be looking to replace Luke Shaw, while Fred could come in to partner Paul Pogba and Nemanja Matic in the club's engine room.

As per publications such as Manchester Evening News and The Sun, United are still keeping close tabs on Paris Saint-Germain's 24-year-old defender Marquinhos, who is widely considered among the best young centre backs in world football.

Sao Paulo's Rodrigo Caio and Torino's Lyanco have also both apparently been monitored by Mourinho and United, along with Anderson Talisca. The Besiktas attacker has been in fantastic form this season, scoring 19 goals in 45 games for the Turkish club so far.
