A brace from Christian Eriksen sent Tottenham Hotspur to the final of the Capital One Cup after playing to a 2-2 draw against Sheffield United in a second leg semifinal at Bramall Lane on Wednesday night.

Spurs ran out 3-2 aggregate winners after winning the first leg 1-0 a week ago.

Sheffield started brightly and came close to scoring in the tenth minute when a cross from Jamal Campbell-Ryce was spilled by the Spurs goalkeeper into the path of Jamie Murhpy, but he saw his shot cleared off the goalline.

Six minutes later Spurs created their first decent goal scoring chance when Kyle Walker burst into the box from the right flank, but saw his low shot well-saved by the keeper.

Spurs came close again in the 26th minute when Harry Kane brust into the box from the left flank this time, buy his 16-yard shot struck the outside of the post.

Two minutes later the away side did find a goal when Eriksen superbly curled a 25-yard free-kick into the top corner of the net, 1-0 (2-0 on aggregate).

Neither side could find another goal before the break.

Spurs started positively in the second half and came close to doubling their lead in the 54th minute when Kane saw a long range effort brilliantly saved by Mark Howard.

Sheffield began to mount a comeback and managed to pull a goal back in the 77th minute when substitute Che Adams arrived at the back post to turn home a right wing cross, 1-1 (2-1 on aggregate).

Two minutes later Adams found his second of the night when he controlled a cross from Murphy with a superb touch and then drilled the ball home, 2-1 (2-2 on aggregate).

Spurs, who were virtually non-existent in the second half, sprang to life in the final five minutes which resulted in Eriksen scoring his second of the night in the 88th minute.

The Spurs attacker burst into the box and produced a clinical finish to seal a place in the final of the Capital One Cup, 2-2 (3-2 on aggregate).
