With Manchester United going close to signing a Portugal international in the English transfer window, why the the deal was not sealed has now reportedly been revealed.
Many fans were frustrated when United did not sign a creative midfielder before the window slammed shut a week ago, especially after United were linked with some high-profile names.
Among them was Bruno Fernandes, a Sporting Lisbon and Portugal midfielder with a great passing ability and an eye for goal.
It initially appeared that the Red Devils simply failed in their pursuit of the 24-year-old, but a new report suggests that it was perhaps United who decided to not go through with the potential transfer.
According to the Daily Mail, United scouts reported back to the club's staff with the news that Fernandes loses the ball far more often than Ole Gunnar Solskjaer would like.
It was then that the 20-time English champions apparently retracted their interest in the Uefa Nations League winner.
Fernandes was also linked with Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur, but, as of now, is still a Sporting player.
