With struggling Manchester United signing just one attacking player in the latest window, the Red Devils have reportedly identified who their main transfer target in January will be.
Despite the acquisitions of Harry Maguire, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Daniel James, United still appear to be short of players for the current campaign, especially with some leaving the club after the English deadline.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was believed to be after a creative midfielder in the recent window, following the exit of Ander Herrera to Paris Saint-Germain on a free deal.
The likes of Bruno Fernandes and Sergej Milinkovic-Savic were said to be lined up by United, as well as Tottenham Hotspur playmaker Christian Eriksen, but none of them came close to signing for the 20-time English champions.
However, The Sun has now reported the Red Devils will be back in for Spurs' Danish star come the January transfer window, as his contract with the London club expires at the end of the season.
Eriksen was said to be desperate for a move to Spanish giants Real Madrid, but reports in Spain suggest that the interest was not completely mutual. Los Blancos boss Zinedine Zidane has Isco, Gareth Bale and James Rodriguez at his disposal, and only wanted to add Paul Pogba to his team.
The Spurs man said early in the past window that he was looking for a new challenge, but will remain at the Lilywhites for at least another four months.
The 27-year-old has played 281 matches for Spurs since his arrival in London in 2013, scoring 67 goals and assisting a further 86 strikes.
