Bayern Munich captain, Philipp Lahm, has told Pep Guardiola that he wants him to remain at the helm of the Bundesliga Champions.
Reports in Spain suggested that the former Barcelona manager could be set to leave the Bavarians at the end of the season.
Guardiola has reportedly sat down with Manchester City's director of football, Txiki Begiristain, to discuss the possibility of joining the Premier League outfit next season.
The Spaniard's current deal with the Bundesliga Champions expires next summer and he is yet to put to paper on a new deal at the club.
However, the Bayern captain has revealed that the players want Guardiola to remain with the club.
"The team's opinion is clear. We enjoy working together with our coach and he is an outstanding manager," Lahm told reporters.
"Everything else is not in our hands. The only thing I can say is that the team would like Guardiola to stay."
Asked if he had told Guardiola, Lahm said: "Yes, I have."
Guardiola has delivered two Bundesliga titles since taking over at Bayern, although he has come under a lot of criticism for his side's displays in the UEFA Champions League.
