The bad headlines around German champions Bayern Munich continued after Pep Guardiola had to send Jerome Boateng and Robert Lewandowski home following a training altercation.
The duo clashed during Wednesday’s training after a normal duel in a training match. Boateng ended up on the floor, but jumped straight up in attempt to go after his teammate, as German media TZ Online report.
It appears as though the defender thought Lewandowski had tried to kick him while he was on the ground. A couple of teammates, namely Rafinha, Mehdi Benatia and captain, Philipp Lahm had to stop the two.
Guardiola sent both troublemakers to the shower and ended the training session soon after.
It hasn’t been the best of weeks for Bayern, after the German giants lost five out of their last six games – a run that saw them being eliminated from the German DFB Cup and the Champions League.
However, they have long secured the German Bundesliga title, but will be keen to celebrate with a victory in the last league match against Mainz on Saturday.
On a positive note, long-term absentee David Alaba was also seen on the training pitch, although the training game came too early for the Austrian.
