Super Sub Muller Rescues Victory For Bayern

Thomas Muller came off the bench to score the winning goal, as Bayern Munich defeated Stuttgart 1-0 at the Mercedes-Benz Arena.
The Bavarians looked lively in the opening exchanges, as Robert Lewandowski went close inside the opening minute, while Sven Ulriech denied the Chadrac Akolo five minutes later at the other end.
Bayern upped the tempo and managed to carve out another chance in the 21st minute, but Lewandowski was denied by was denied by Robert Zieler.
In the 36th minute, Zieler came to the hosts' rescue once again, he produced a fine save to keep out Christian Tolisso's curling effort from the edge of the box.
That proved to be the final chance of the half as the sides went into the break goalless.
Jupp Heynckes' charges picked up from where they left off in the first half, but they were let down by their decision-making in the final third.
With just over 20 minutes remaining, the visitors introduced Thomas Muller for Tolisso as they pushed for an opening goal.
The change paid off the Bundesliga leaders, as Muller collected a pass from Kingsley Coman before firing a powerful past Zieler, 1-0.
However, Stuttgart were awarded a penalty in second-half stoppage time. Akolo stepped up but saw his spot-kick saved by Ulreich as Bayern held on for the win.
