James Rodriguez bagged a goal and an assist on his Bundesliga debut as Bayern Munich defeated Schalke 3-0 on Tuesday evening.
Schalke Goalkeeper Ralf Fahrmann kept the hosts in the game in the first ten minutes denying Thomas Muller the opener on two separate occasions.
However, Robert Lewandowski grabbed the lead for the Bavarians in the 25th minute through a penalty after the referee consulted with the video assistant for a handball inside the box, 0-1.
James Rodriguez coolly slotted home from inside the box four minutes later to give Carlo Ancelotti's side a two goal cushion.
Going into the 37th minute the Bavarians were cruising, locking the play in midfield with accurate passing, oozing confidence.
The match went into the halftime break with Carlo Ancelotti's troops enjoying a 2-0 lead.
Rodriguez hit the post in the 55th minute after being setup by Muller on the edge of the box.
Fahrmann was called into action in the 69th minute making a good stop to deny Lewandowski from outside the box.
Arturo Vidal made the game safe for the Bavarians in the 75th minute slotting from 10-yards out in the centre of the box following a delicate assist from Rodriguez, 3-0.
Schalke were sapped out of energy in the 85th minute as they could barely get out of their half.
In the end they were beaten to submission by a ruthless Bavarians, whose three goals earned them all the three points.
