Robert Lewandowski's first-half strike was enough to earn Bayern Munich a 1-0 win over Koln at the RheinEnergieStadion.
The Bundesliga leaders took the lead after 10 minutes, as Heintz's poor touch found Robert Lewandowski, who fired home from the edge of the box.
Bayern were in full control as the half went on, with Thiago Alcantara and Douglas Costa causing a lot of damage in the final third.
Koln did have half a chance in the 32nd minute when Modeste did well to meet Heintz's cross but his header sailed wide of the upright.
Despite the visitors' domination, the score remained 1-0 as the sides entered the halftime break.
The hosts were presented with the chance to level matters in the 52nd minute but Modeste failed to keep his header on target from close range.
Koln had another chance to make it all square in the 74th minute, as Neuer failed dropped a cross, which fell to Modeste but David Alaba popped up with a timely block to deny the striker a certain goal.
Bayern were struggling to deal wtih Koln in the second half and the hosts went close in the 80th minute when Risse fired just over the crossbar.
Despite a late surge from Koln, Pep Guardiola's charges managed to see out the rest of the game and clinch the three points.
