Result: Hamburg 0-1 Bayern Munich
Date: 24 September 2016
Venue: Volksparkstadion
Joshua Kimmich's 88th minute strike handed Bayern Munich a 1-0 win over Hamburg at the Volksparkstadion on Saturday afternoon.
The Bavarians came into the game with a perfect record in the league winning all their opening four games.
However. Hamburg approached this game in turmoil after they lost three of their opening four games.
The match was frequently interrupted by niggly fouls and never really got going. While, Bayern in particular were surprisingly tame in the last third and fluffed a few opportunities to go ahead.
In a half of few opportunities the match went into the break goalless.
The second half seemed to be the mirror of the first with both teams seemingly comfortable at 0-0.
There were however more opportunities in particular from the hour mark.
Hamburg were the ones now looking to break the deadlock and in the 60th minute, as Douglas Santos hit a threatening shot from the left side of the box that was goal bound but narrowly missed.
The game lifted up somewhat and in the 71st minute David Alaba produced the best moment of the match thus far sending a dipping strike well over a wall from a free-kick.
In the 88th minute Joshua Kimmich fired Bayern into the lead to make it 1-0.
Following a neat pass from Franck Ribery Kimmich was in a good position in the right side of the six yard box and fired the ball into the centre of goal.
The goal ultimately proved to be the winner as Bayern held on for laboured victory.
