Borussia Dortmund defeated Mainz 4-2 in a thrilling encounter at Signal Iduna Park on Friday night.
Mainz went ahead inside the the first minute courtesy of a wonderful 25-yard volley from Elkin Soto, after Roman Weidenfellar's clearance landed at the feet of the Colombian midfielder.
Dortmund should have been level minutes later but Marco Reus struck the upright with only the Mainz goalkeeper, Stefanos Kapino, to beat.
Reus was presented with another opportunity to equalise in the 31st minute but he blasted over from 12-yards out, after being picked out by Gundagan.
Dortmund eventually leveled matters minutes after the halftime break, as Neven Subotic rose highest to head home Marcel Schmelzer's corner.
Jurgen Klopp's men continued to dominate and eventually took the lead in the 55th minute, as Reus latched on to a pass from Kevin Kampl, before rounding Kapino and slotting into an empty net.
However, the home side's joy was short-lived, as Yunus Malli caught the Dortmund defence napping and finished clinically from six-yards out.
Dortmund hit back in the 71st minute, Reus picked out Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang with a delightful pass and the Gabonese strike slotted home into the far corner.
Nuri Sahin then sealed the three points in the 78th minute with a volley from close range, after Kapino failed to hold on to Aubameyang's free-kick.
