Bayern In Rampant Mood Against Koln

German Bundesliga

Result: Bayern Munich 4-0 Koln

Date: 24 September 2015

Venue: Allianz Arena

Robert Lewandowski continued his great goal-scoring form in Bayern Munich’s 4-0 win against Koln at the Allianz Arena.

The visitors had a positive start to the clash with the first chance of the game falling to Simon Zoller after only two minutes of play but Manuel Neuer saved comfortably. The home side then switched into gear and Arjen Robben forced a good save out of Horn in the Koln goal.

Bayern continued to gain momentum as the half progressed, but could not get the crucial opener. Robben finally broke the dead-lock in the 34th minute with lovely finish to give Munich a 1-0 advantage.

Five minutes later, Arturo Vidal tucked a fine strike into the bottom corner, extending the hosts lead to 2-0 with the half-time break looming. The visitors tried to get back into the game but 2-0 is how the teams headed into the break.

Pep Guardiola’s men continued where they left off after the restart, but it was Matthias Lehmann who had the half’s first chance but could not beat Neuer. Robert Lewandowski then came close in the 52nd minute but his shot was well saved.

They continued to look very threatening in the second stanza but the Koln defence stood firm. Lewandowski finally got on the score-sheet in the 61st minute, extending their lead to 3-0.

Bayern were a class above their opponents in the second half and Koln could not find the answers, and  Dominic Maroh conceded a penalty in the 75th minute which Thomas Muller converted to take the score to 4-0.

The home side continued to look good but could not add to the score as the match ended 4-0.
