Leverkusen And Dortmund Finish All Square

German Bundesliga

Result: Leverkusen 0-0 Dortmund

Date: 31 January 2015

Venue: Bay Arena

Bayer Leverkusen and Dortmund had plenty of chances in their Bundesliga clash on Saturday but finished goalless.

Dortmund came close to taking the lead in the 29th minute as Nuri Sahin lined up a shot from the edge of the area, but his shot was squeezed wide of the target.

Some fantastic defending from Dortmund's Mats Hummels saved a sure goal in the 38th minute. Calhanoglu got the ball in the centre and had Weidenfeller beaten with his shot on goal, but Hummels dived bravely on the line to head the powerful shot away from goal at the last moment.

Dortmund had another good chance five minutes into the second half. A clearance from Leverkusen fell kindly for Immobile but his effort on goal was heroically saved by Leno who dove and punched it away.

The chances came thick and fast as the second half wore on and Kiessling was the man who had all the options open to him in the 54th minute but instead of picking out a pass, he went for a shot and sent it wide.

Leverkusen came close in the 76th minute as substitute Simon Rolfes made an immediate impact. He sent a piercing pass through for Castro who attempted to chip over the advancing Weidenfeller, but the effort went over the bar as well.

Earlier...

Hamburger 0-2 FC Koln: The visitors came away with all three points on Saturday thanks to a brace from Marcel Risse. He opened the scoring in the 62nd minute before securing the result in the 78th minute.

Mainz 5-0 Paderborn: The hosts annihilated Paderborn at Coface Arena. Yunus Malli (6', 46') netted a brace before Pablo De Blasis (69'), Sami Allagui (82') and Johannes Geis (87') got in on the action.

Freiburg 4-1 Eintracht Frankfurt: Marco Russ put the visitors ahead in the first minute of play but Vladimir Darida (61') equalised before a hat-trick from Nils Peterson (63', 69', 88').

Schalke 1-0 Hannover: The solitary strike from Marco Hoger was enough to see the hosts claim all the spoils at Veltins-Arena.

Stuttgart 0-1 Monchengladbach: Patrick Herrmann's lone strike gave the visitors the three points on the day.
