Lewandowski Hat-Trick Gives Bayern Dream Start

Bundesliga
Result: Bayern Munich 6-0 Werder Bremen
Date: 26 August 2016
Venue: Allianz-Arena
Bayern Munich made the perfect start to their Bundesliga campaign as they thrashed Werder Bremen 6-0 on Friday night.
Die Roten wasted little time in taking control of the clash and came within inches of scoring in the seventh minute before finding their opener in the ninth. Xabi Alonso produced a special finish to get the Bundesliga season underway as he smashed a half-volley into the back of the net.
Four minutes later the hosts were two goals clear. Franck Ribery picked out Robert Lewandowski with a throughball and the Pole curled a shot beyond the goalkeeper.
The German giants could have been four or five goals ahead at the interval but took a two-goal lead into the dressing room.
In the first minute of the second half the hosts were once again punishing Werder Bremen. Thomas Muller crossed for Lewandowski and he finished with ease for a 3-0 lead.
A battered Werder defence let in yet another goal in the 66th minute. A one-two between Muller and Philipp Lahm resulted in the latter finding the target off the inside of the far post.
Number five arrived in the 73rd minute when Muller was once again involved, teeing up Ribery who hammered home the finish.
Shortly after the fifth, Bayern won a penalty when Ribery was brought down in the box, and Lewandowski slotted the spot-kick to complete his hat-trick and Werder's humiliation.
