Borussia Dortmund wonderkid Jadon Sancho is currently the second-most influential player, in terms of assists, in Europe's top five leagues, bettering Cristiano Ronaldo's tally and having only one less than FC Barcelona's Lionel Messi.

Sancho scored Dortmund's second goal, his ninth strike since moving to the Bundesliga side. As a consequence, the young Englishman surpassed former Cologne and Bayern Munich striker Lukas Podolski as the youngest player ever to reach nine senior goals, at the age of 18 years and 336 days.
However, his exploits did not end there. With his assist for Dortmund's opening strike in that fixture, Sancho took his tally to 12 assists in the Bundesliga in 2018/19.
As a consequence, the 18-year-old is now the second-most creative player across Europe's top five leagues in terms of assists, with only Messi registering more assists in LaLiga (13).
"It means a lot to us today," Sancho told the Bundesliga's official website after BVB's win over Bayer.
"We've been working hard in training. We stayed positive after games that haven't gone our way. We've been training hard and we showed our fans today that we still have belief."
To put Sancho's meteoric rise into perspective, by the time five-time Ballon d'Or winner Messi had registered 35 league appearances for Barcelona, he had netted 10 goals and registered six assists, while the Dortmund wonderkid has scored nine league goals and made 16 assists – 10 more assists than the Argentine had at this point in his career.
