Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi are chasing goal-scoring records all the time, but this Bundesliga star has a better goal-per-minutes ratio than both of them this season.
VFL Wolfsburg’s Bas Dost has been in fine form, scoring 11 goals in his last seven league games. Dost missed most parts of the first half of the season, but has been impressive since the turn of the year.
Overall, he has now scored 13 goals in 12 Bundesliga games for his club – eight of them came in the last three matches, which is a record in the 52-year-old history of the Bundesliga.
On average, Dost has now scored a goal every 63 minutes this season, which is better than Ronaldo and Messi.
The Portuguese averages a league goal every 65 minutes, while Messi hits the back of the net every 82 minutes, according Voetball International.
Newcastle’s Papiss Cisse is the only African coming close to the top three after scoring a goal every 84 minutes in the Premier League this season.
Frank Lampard (89 minutes), Sergio Aguero (92 minutes) and Arjen Robben (92 minutes) are the other players who are rated among the most clinical players this season.
Dost, who also scored a brace against Ajax Cape Town in a friendly in January, has the next chance to continue his fine form when Wolfsburg meet RB Leipzig in the German Cup on Wednesday.
