'Why Leaving Real Madrid Was Good For James Rodriguez'
Colombia international James Rodriguez was right to leave Real Madrid on loan at the beginning of this season, according to the player's father.
The South American, who struggled for regular first-team football at the Santiago Bernabeu, joined Bayern Munich on a two-year loan deal this season, and has since put in a series of impressive performances under Jupp Heynckes.
Wilson Rodriguez, James' dad, has now claimed his son's decision to leave the Santiago Bernabeu was not easy, but believes it was the right choice because he has started to love football again.
"My son did well to leave Real Madrid for Bayern Munich, he is very happy in Germany," he told Marca Claro.
"I see him living a calm and cheerful life, and it's incredibly important for him to perform on the pitch.
"He loves Real Madrid a lot, I don't think anybody can ever doubt that. However, the best thing he could do was leave the team. He had lost the sporting joy on the pitch that he had when (Carlo) Ancelotti was a coach."
The 26-year-old has made 24 appearances for the Bundesliga side so far this season, scoring four goals and assisting a further eight strikes.
