The CEO of one of the biggest teams in Europe has responded to Cristiano Ronaldo’s move to Juventus, insisting his club would never spend €100 million (R1.5 billion) on a player the age of the Portuguese.

'Messi Deserves Best Player Award More Than Ronaldo!'

Many were shocked to see Ronaldo leave Real Madrid in this transfer window, especially following the success he helped bring the club in his nine years in Spain.

Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, CEO of Bayern Munich, was also among those surprised to see the superstar join Juve, claiming the Bavarians would never consider buying a 33-year-old for €100 million (R1.5 billion).

"The signing of Cristiano is the one that has grabbed most attention and I understand that," he was quoted to have said by AS.

"He is a player who has won everything at Real Madrid in the last few years. For the past five years, he has been the best player in the world.

"Marketing questions have played a huge role in this move, but Bayern would not invest so much money on a player who is 33 years old.

"I was surprised that my counterpart Andrea Agnelli decided to get involved in this deal.

"In Italy, it has drawn a lot of praise. From Juventus' point of view the signing makes sense; Italian football has lost ground in recent years.

"With this huge operation, the Italians hope to gain the attention of the football world again."

'We Are In Talks With Barca Over Messi!'

Ronaldo started training with Juventus this week, and is set to play his first match for the club against Chievo next week Saturday.

Do you think Ronaldo is worth that money Juve spent on him at his age? Let us know in the comments section below.

Thats why Bayern won't dominate Europe, Italian players play till to their 40s, Seerdof, Pirlo, Maldini and Cheilini are old but they played till they were in their late 30s

That's great for both player and club as it has already improved the interest in Serie A. My concern is the likes of AC and Inter, Roma.. what are they doing to salvage the fading image of their league apart from letting juve run riot in the Italian league

Juventus is getting twice as much revenue coz of this 33year old King. They sold over £15 million worth of club material in week one, their tv rights price shot up the roof, Serie A is now back in many tv broadcasters including Supersport. A team itself is now worth a billion more than it did last month. This deal has done a lot more good for both club n player.

Just so know Mr Rumminige, Juventus signed him for marketing and in one day after they signed him, they sold more than 600 000 jersey for him.
