SA Starlet Pens Deal With German Giants!
Word reaching the Siya crew is that South African youngster, Tashreeq Matthews, has officially penned a long-term deal with German giants, Borussia Dortmund.
The 18-year-old was spotted in Germany back in July after Dortmund decided to take a closer look at the talented teen, and Siya sources have now confirmed that he has joined the Bundesliga table-toppers.
Matthews, who joins the club after leaving Ajax Cape Town, has put pen to paper on a long-term professional deal in Europe, and indications are that he could make his debut for the club in the UEFA Youth League against Atletico next week.
Now, with the youngster having completed his move to Europe, Matthews will be focused on settling in well in Germany and working his way through the ranks at one of the continent’s biggest clubs.
Benni McCarthy, who had Matthews training with him at Cape Town City before he left the country, wished him well on Instagram, saying, "Well done Tassie. Very happy for you and your family, make them proud my man! There's real hope for people from Hanover Park now, the 2nd person from Hanover Park to go worldwide."
Dortmund are currently top of table in Germany after an impressive start to their season, however their youth team are stuck behind Atletico, Monaco and Club Brugge in their UYL group.
