City coach Pep Guardiola has seemingly revealed his transfer plans for next season, hinting at the arrivals of four players, including a holding midfielder.
"There are three or four positions to look for," Guardiola was quoted as saying by FourFourTwo.
"We have some ideas, but it's an option to buy one (a left-back). At the end, the strongest guys are there.
"That's why we are looking at next season. A holding midfielder we will try for, and one more position, although I'm not going to tell you which positions or players."
According to the Daily Mirror, the Citizens have earmarked former Barcelona and current Bayern midfielder Thiago Alcantara as a potential long-term replacement for Brazilian Fernandinho, who is on the wrong side of 30.
Guardiola is known to be a long-time admirer of Thiago, having signed him from the Blaugrana for a fee of €25 million (R402 million) after being unveiled as the coach of Bayern Munich in 2013.

Should City pursue the Spain midfielder, they could have to fork out in excess of £60 million (R1.12 billion) for the 27-year-old, which, in all likelihood, would make Thiago the Manchester club's record signing, surpassing the fee paid for Algeria international Riyad Mahrez, who joined the Citizens in a five-year deal worth £61 million (R1.14 billion) in July 2018
